faq and additional information
What is a drive day?
Drive days are designed to let participants explore the limits of their cars in the safest possible environment. Many circuits across Australia and worldwide offer track access, some of which are more accessible than others. Drive Events Pty Ltd aims to make it possible for any driver to bring nearly any car to the track and enjoy the experience.
How much track time do I get?
At our Drive Days and Test & Tune events, we allocate a minimum of 6 x 15-minute sessions at our events (unless specifcally stated otherwise). Our Performance Drive School is allocated a minimum of 5 x 23-minute sessions. If numbers allow it we will get you extra track time. If there’s delays or trouble on the track, then that time might be reuced. We do our best to make sure every minute is used wisely
What Licence Do I need?
Licensing requirements differ by track. At Phillip Island, drivers only need a road-registered car and a licence valid for Victorian roads, including interstate and international licences, provided the driver is legally permitted to drive in Victoria. At Calder Park we run under a Motorsport Australia permit so all drivers’ need an MA licence. You can get a day licence through us if you need one.
What Safety Clothing do I need?
We recommend using the highest level of safety gear available. Minimum requirements for all Drive Events Drive Days are: an approved helmet, non-flammable clothing from ankles to wrists, socks, and closed-toe shoes. We also offer hire gear — helmets, race suits, and gloves — but pre-booking is essential.
What is the Drive Events - Performance Drive School?
Racing drivers aren’t just brave — they understand how to keep a car stable. Speed comes from stability & stability comes from driver providing the correct driver inputs.
Our Performance Driver Education Program teaches the throttle, steering, and braking techniques needed to keep a car balanced and maximising grip, with both theory and on-track training. These skills also boost everyday safety by replacing bad habits with controlled, confident driving.
